PACKAGING / PROCUREMENT
The packaging decision is part of the product decision.
A box needs to do more than look good. It needs to fit the product and the journey.

01 / Start with the distribution route
Tell your sourcing partner how the product will reach the end customer. Retail shelf presentation and individual parcel shipping may require different decisions. Identify where handling is likely to occur and which details your customer or distribution partner requires.
02 / Protect the vulnerable parts
Look at the actual product construction and the parts that can rub, move or take an impact. Discuss internal separation, corner protection and how accessories are retained. A sample pack should show the proposed arrangement, not just the external artwork.
03 / Make the contents easy to understand
Consider set contents, assembly instructions, care information and the placement of labels. Keep the information clear and consistent with the agreed product. Any claims, warnings or compliance labels should be reviewed for the particular product and destination rather than copied from another item.
04 / Review the packed dimensions
A change in insert, folding method or accessory arrangement can change carton size. Request the packed dimensions and configuration once the design is defined. Evaluate protection and handling together with the commercial implications of the pack.
05 / Sign off a complete reference
Record the approved artwork version, materials, internal arrangement and any master-carton details. Confirm who approves changes. For testing requirements, agree on the relevant protocol and responsibility for that order. Do not assume a photographed pack has already been tested for your specific shipping route.
