CUSTOMIZATION / PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

From an idea to a useful custom-product brief.

You do not need a finished engineering drawing to start. You do need a clear direction.

THE KEY POINTA practical brief explains the buyer, the intended changes and the decisions still open.
From an idea to a useful custom-product brief.

01 / Explain what you want to improve

A reference photo is helpful, but add the reason behind your request. Perhaps your current range needs a more coherent look, a different set configuration or packaging that better suits your channel. Separate the essential changes from ideas you would like to explore.

02 / Share the commercial context

State your destination market, expected quantity, desired positioning and timeline. These are discussion inputs, not a substitute for a confirmed quotation. If you have a target cost, explain what it includes so the conversation does not compare different product scopes.

03 / Show the visual direction

Send available logo files, artwork, color references and examples you have permission to use. Mark which references describe appearance and which describe construction. Your sourcing partner can then identify questions, potential methods and the samples needed to evaluate them.

04 / List the open decisions

Materials, dimensions, construction, finish and packaging may still be undecided. Put those questions in the brief. Agree on what the first sample should resolve and which changes may affect cost or timing. This makes the development conversation easier to follow.

05 / Create a clear approval path

Name the person who will approve the specification, artwork and sample. Keep a dated record of agreed changes. Before production, confirm the final reference, order scope and packaging so that the team is working from the same version.
